When a person moves anything biological from its environment, they rarely know what will follow.

The 3D crab in Inghild Karlsen’s installation is an invader to a new ocean, one that was introduced by humans. The crab has not moved there voluntarily.

Though we do not know the full implications of farmed salmon, oil extraction and all we let sink to the bottom of the sea, we vaguely understand that there are serious consequences to these actions. The sea is a mirror to what is happening in the world today. Unpredictability and lack of balance are signs of our time. Nature reacts, and we humans act slowly in response.

Despite the uncertainty of the impact of King Crabs, it has proved to be a positive cooperation between two countries. Yet the unrest is both on land and at sea.
